The Rainbow on the Hill

We visited the annual Iris Festival yesterday after stopping at Reeves. It was our first time and boy, what a sight! The Presby Memorial Iris Garden is the largest public iris garden in the United States, planted 85 years ago and contains 14,000 irises. It's in Upper Montclair, NJ which is about 20 minutes from us. We honestly didn't realize this weekend was the best weekend to go. What wonderful luck! The locals call this the "Rainbow on the Hill" and you can guess why. I'll let the pictures talk for themselves.

It was quite the event, even with a hot air balloon

There's a walking tour via cellphone. You just scan the code and it tells you about the history of iris and the iris in that particular bed.

When your eye needs an iris break you could gaze at this lovely smokebush
