Rose in Focus: Moondance

When we first moved into our house I had a dream of only having white flowers and roses around the house. I soon got tired of this idea and started buying color. But I still have some very beautiful flowers left from my moon garden dream. One of those flowers is the floribunda rose "Moondance". I purchased three of them from Jackson & Perkins, bare-root. They are now going on 4 years old and very vigorous. Yes, they get blackspot but when they are in full-health they are glorious.

The color is pure white on the outside and soft butter yellow in the middle. The rose turns more white as it fades. The foliage is a very dark green.

This shot was after a baking soda bath. You can see the spots on the leaves. Which, by the way, doesn't work in my garden and just ruins my photos. Won't be doing that again!

Moondance plays nicely with others

  1. Hi Winnie2, I just discovered your blog! I love your 'Moondance'. Such a lovely white rose! In my first garden I planted this rose, too, and a year or so after that we moved. So I never saw it growing up completely, but I loved it already as a young plant. Seeing your photos makes me really miss it!

    1. Thanks so much for checking out my blog Christina! I love reading Organic Garden Dreams. I like reading about your Icebergs and then scowling at my own wondering why mine doesn't look like yours!

    2. Well you are funny! Since you can grow 'Moondance' so well, I think you aren't really entitled to complain about your Iceberg roses :-)!
